On May 13, 2024, the Nigeria Entrepreneurship Youth Initiative (NEYI) team paid an official visit to the management of Harvarde College of Science, Business, and Management Studies (HCSBMS) in preparation for their upcoming 2nd symposium. The meeting was graced by prominent figures from both NEYI and HCSBMS, including Mr. Adefisoye Adeshola, popularly known as Mr. Diligent, the President of NEYI, and Mrs. Grace Anuoluwapo Adefisoye, the Head of Operations of NEYI. Representing the institution were Miss Tolu, the Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship, and Mr. Bankole, the Dean of Student Affairs.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to finalize plans for the upcoming symposium, scheduled for June 11, 2024. This event, a collaboration between NEYI and HCSBMS, aims to promote digital entrepreneurship and combat cybercrime among the youth. The theme for this year’s symposium is “JAPA or JAPADA: An Eye Opener for Digital Entrepreneurship.”

During the meeting, Mr. Bankole expressed his admiration for NEYI’s mission and vision, emphasizing the institution’s readiness to support the initiative. “NEYI is doing an excellent job in equipping youths and students with vital digital entrepreneurship skills. We look forward to a lasting partnership that will greatly benefit our students,” he stated.

Miss Tolu added that continuous reporting of NEYI’s events is crucial. “Documenting these events will be invaluable, especially for future administrations,” she noted, highlighting the importance of maintaining detailed records for long-term benefits.

Mr. Adefisoye recounted the successes of NEYI’s last visit to HCSBMS, describing it as a life-changing experience for many participants. He shared that several students were awarded scholarships, one student’s school fees were fully covered, and participants received practical digital training opportunities. Additionally, student entrepreneurs were given the chance to showcase their products and services on a popular TV station, all free of charge. He promised that the upcoming symposium would offer even more opportunities for students. Furthermore, past beneficiaries of NEYI programs will be invited to the event to share their success stories and motivate others.

Mrs. Adefisoye, the Head of Operations at NEYI, expressed her gratitude towards HCSBMS for their unwavering support. “We appreciate the management of HCSBMS for believing in and supporting our cause. Together, we are making strides in advocating for digital entrepreneurship and fighting cybercrime among youths,” she remarked.

As both NEYI and HCSBMS gear up for the June symposium, this partnership promises to provide a powerful platform for empowering young minds and steering them towards positive and productive futures in the digital age. The inclusion of testimonies from past beneficiaries will serve to inspire and encourage new participants, highlighting the tangible benefits and opportunities that NEYI’s initiatives can offer.
