In a groundbreaking initiative, Nigeria Entrepreneurship Youth Initiative (N.E.Y.I) recently organized a transformative digital skills training program tailored for women, tagged “Women in Tech.” With over 700 enthusiastic participants, the event aimed to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry and empower women with essential digital skills.
The comprehensive training covered various aspects of digital technology, including Social Media Marketing, Content Marketing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for advertising, Mobile Cybersecurity, and TikTok monetization. Participants were equipped with practical knowledge and hands-on experience to thrive in the digital landscape.
Feedback from the training was overwhelmingly positive, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. Each participant received a certificate of proficiency, marking their successful completion of the Women in Tech program.
One standout feature of the initiative is its commitment to supporting entrepreneurial-minded women. Selected participants will have the chance to showcase their businesses on a national TV Entrepreneurial show, reaching audiences on GoTv, Startimes, and DStv. This selection process prioritizes women who are actively engaged in business ventures.
Adefisoye Adeshola, popularly known as Mr. Diligent and the President of N.E.Y.I, spearheaded the program as the facilitator. With over a decade of experience in digital entrepreneurship and training, Mr. Diligent emphasized the importance of involving women in the tech ecosystem. He highlighted the potential for women to excel in roles such as Cybersecurity experts, Quality Testers, and social media managers, offering opportunities for remote work and career advancement.
The Women in Tech program marks the beginning of a vibrant community for women in tech, with N.E.Y.I committed to organizing more initiatives tailored to their needs. Additionally, N.E.Y.I has ambitious plans to launch a Tech Academy in 2024, offering free tuition and acceptance fees to further empower individuals seeking to pursue careers in technology.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve, initiatives like N.E.Y.I’s Women in Tech program play a crucial role in equipping women with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the tech-driven world. With empowerment and education, women can become formidable forces for innovation and progress in the digital age.
